Time and time again we have patients that don’t think they have suffered any damage to their spine from the accident. They go to someone that has no idea what they are doing and they are like ahhh your fine. It would be like you coming to me for heart surgery. I have no idea what I’m doing but ya I can listen to your heart. I wouldn’t recommend it, but for some reason when it comes to car accidents every provider thinks they know what they are looking at.
This week we had a patient come in that was in a car accident in December and she went to a chiropractor that didn’t take X-rays and said she needed 2 chiropractic massages. First of I don’t know what a chiropractic massage is and second the least amount of care from an accident is ~ 23 adjustments. Fast forward to the end of Feburary the patient now has neck pain. If you remember from a previous blog that symptoms usually show 2 months down the road. So it has been almost exactly 2 months, again no surprise to us.
Now this patient is paying for care out of her own pocket to get this fixed for something that could have been easily covered under the accident. Time is crucial to get into the office, because insurance companies wont cover for these gaps in treatment. So if you are reading this, please tell your friends and family that it’s crucial to get properly checked out by one of our doctors. There is no spine replacement surgery. You only have one spine so please take care of it.
